Gerald “Jerry” O”Donnell

Formerly of Chelsea

Gerald “Jerry” O”Donnell of Peabody and former Chelsea Resident entered into eternal rest on Monday March 17th 2025 surrounded by family at MGH Boston

Jerry was well known in the towing industry as the owner of Jerry’s, A&J and All City Towing in Chelsea as the city of Chelsea’s Contract Towing vendor where he and his brother Paul would be seen responding to various calls for service assisting the Chelsea Police and stranded motorists.

Jerry was born October 21st 1957 in Everett and raised in Chelsea and attended Shurtleff School and Chelsea High  and settled on Hooper Street  in the 1990’s, moving in 2022 to Brooksby Village in Peabody.

He was the son of the late Gertrude (Mackey) O’Donnell-Koolloian. He was preceded in death by his wife Amy (Weiner) and brother Arthur O;Donnell and survived by his son Brandon, daughter Elissa Murray and husband William both of Peabody and brother of Chelsea Emergency Management Supervisor Paul Koolloian.

The wake will be held on Tuesday March 25th from 4 -8 pm at the Welsh Funeral Home 718 Broadway Chelsea with the funeral on Wednesday morning March 26th with the time to be determined at a later date. Burial will be at the Congregation Tifereth Israel Cemetery on Fuller Street in Everett

William F. Pettengill

Former member/bartender of the Chelsea Irish Club and member of many other local organizations

William F. Pettengill (affectionately known as Sweet Pea) of Chelsea passed away on March 13, 2025 at the age of 85 after a long illness. He was pre-deceased by his loving wife, Mary (Pitts) Pettengill, his parents, Jim and Anna Pettengill, his brother, James and his wife, Yvonne.

He is survived by his son,Michael Walsh, his wife Nancy; his grandchildren, Connor Walsh, Taylor Walsh and her partner, Tomas Gates and soon to be great granddaughter, Ruby Elizabeth. He is also survived by his sister, Claire Ellis and her husband, Mick, his brother in law, Arthur Pitts and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Bill was born in Malden but grew up in Everett.  He went to Everett schools and attended Everett Vocational High School where he was an outstanding athlete, captain of the basketball and cross-country teams.

He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Berlin crisis. He held many jobs over the years; which included employment at Purity Supreme, U.S. Gypsum, the City of Chelsea as a trash truck driver and beloved crossing guard.

Bill was outgoing, had many friends throughout the years and most importantly, he enjoyed life.  He was a former member/bartender of the Chelsea Irish Club. Also, a past member of the Chelsea Moose Club, Chelsea Masons Lodge, Chelsea Elks Lodge, the Cary Square Social Club and the Beachmont V.F.W. Post #6712.

Relatives and friends attended visiting hours in the Carafa Family Funeral Home, 389 Washington Ave., Chelsea on Wednesday, March 19 followed by a Funeral Service in the Funeral Home.  Bill’s Interment followed at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
