Rosa Maria Rodriguez-Ortiz

December 26, 1950 – October 29, 2023

Relatives and friends are most kindly invited to attend visiting hours today, Thursday, November 2nd from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Welsh Funeral Home, 718 Broadway, Chelsea for Rosa Maria Rodriguez-Ortiz, who passed away on Sunday, October 29th after a period of declining health.  She was 72 years of age.  Her funeral will be held at the funeral home on Friday, November 3rd at 10 a.m.  Services will conclude with Rosa being placed to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

The beloved daughter of the late Eduviges Rodriguez and Juanna Ortiz, Rosa was born and raised in Ponce, Puerto Rico and a resident of Chelsea for the past 30 Years.  Rosa was passionately devoted to home and family, raising two daughters and one son.

In her lifetime, Rosa was happy to live a quiet life at home and enjoyed listening to music.

She is survived by her loving children and their spouses: William Caraballo and his wife, Sonia of Chelsea. Jacqueline May and her husband, Gary of Dorchester and Rosa J. Caraballo of Chelsea; the cherished grandmother of  Tatiana Caraballo, Catherine Martinez, Jocelyn Varela, Julissa Mejia, Jailene and Jyzelle Artica, Vianka and Vivette Caraballo, and Alyssa DiGaetano.  She is also survived by extended family members and friends.

Charlene T. Baker

May 10, 1944 – October 23, 2023

Relatives and friends attended visiting hours on Monday, October 30th in the Welsh Funeral Home, 718 Broadway, Chelsea  for Charlene T. Baker who passed away on Monday October 23rd in the peaceful surroundings of her home with her loving family at her side.  She was 79 years of age and was a beloved daughter of the late Charles J. and Jeanette (Burns) Munzing.

Charlene was a lifelong resident of Chelsea and attended local schools.

She was married to William Baker and together they raised their daughter in Chelsea.

Charlene was passionately devoted to home and family, welcoming 4+ grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

She worked as a barmaid at two local establishments; the “Olde Tymer’s”, and Dick’s Café.  She also worked as a nurse’s aide for the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home for several years. 

She is fondly remembered for her goodhearted nature, keeping her home as a “judgement free zone” welcoming all who would stop by to visit.  She most loved spending time with her grandchildren, home cooking, shopping, the holidays and gift giving.

Charlene was predeceased by her husband, William in 2005 and by several siblings: Robert Burns, Charles Munzing and Geraldine Sweeney.  She is survived by her sister, Anne Riggione and her aunt, Barbara Dowd.

She was the loving mother of Virginia Hensey of Lynn, cherished grandmother of Teresa Baker of Chelsea, Erica Baker of Alabama, Krystle Baker of Gloucester, Tabatha Choquette of Haverhill and her adopted granddaughter, caretaker, and special friend, Aniyyah Medina of Revere.  She was the adoring great-grandmother of Mikhel and Mekhi Collins, Mannix Restor, Jr., Annastasia, Thea,and Cayden Choquette, Elijah, Xiarrah and Desyre Baker. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Paula Gonzalez

June 08, 1927 – October 23, 2023

Relatives and friends attended  a Funeral Service Talk in Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 40 Hy-Sil Ave., Chelsea, on Saturday, October 28th for Paula Gonzalez, who entered eternal sleep on Monday, October 23rd in the peaceful surroundings of her home with her loving family at her side. She was 96 years of age.

Paula was born and raised in Chinandega, Nicaragua. She grew up with six siblings and was a beloved daughter of the late Paulo Gonzalez and Estebana Castillo.  She was married to Jorge Eduardo Briceno and was passionately devoted to home and family.  She settled in Chelsea from Nicaragua in 1987 and has resided in Chelsea for the past 36 years.  Since that time, Paula became a faithful Jehovah Witness and member of the Kingdom Hall on Hy-Sil Ave in Chelsea. 

In her lifetime, Paula remained devoted to her own family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling to the White Mountains in New Hampshire and making bi-annual visits to her homeland in Nicaragua. 

Paula was predeceased by her husband, Jorge E. Briceno many years ago and later by two of her own children; Jose Briceno and Lesbia Briceno.

She was the beloved mother of Hugo Briceno, Maria Lourdes Briceno, Rosa Maria Gonzalez, Ermelinda Miranda, Martha Miranda, Marlon Miranda and Idalberto Miranda.  She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.
