Numerous reports from the Central Avenue location indicated that a 16-year-old male was shot in the hand on Tuesday afternoon, at least the second brazen daylight shooting incident in this summer.
Chelsea Police, nor the District Attorneys Office, could confirm the shooting by press time on Wednesday.
The youth was apparently on the corner of Central Avenue and Shawmut Street when he was shot around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
There were unconfirmed reports that at least one suspect was in custody soon after the incident.
It follows an incident last week where, allegedly, a carload of people opened fire at an old car parked on Congress Street near Hawthorne.
Police did not confirm that incident either before press time.
