Welcome back to this week’s edition of The Chelsea Scoop! First off–a huge shoutout to all the mothers out there; your love, hard work, and dedication do not go unnoticed! Happy Mother’s Day to all of our wonderful mothers!
Chelsea’s digital future
The City of Chelsea is modernizing! From parking permits to the Inspectional Services Department (ISD), more city services are moving online. No more dreadfully long lines at the Clerk’s Office: residents can now renew their permits online, making the process convenient and accessible. And better yet, say goodbye to car window stickers—they’re going digital too!
Permitting and enforcement will improve for all residents. The ISD is also adopting a new software system that will streamline the permit application process for residents and contractors. This will enhance efficiency, data transparency, and accountability.
For many residents, this may be a new and strange shift. Thankfully, the City is committed to complete transparency throughout this process, so if you have any concerns, don’t hesitate to reach out to City Hall or the City Manager’s Office with questions!
Upcoming events
Budget hearings with the City Council took place this past week, bringing us one step closer to the official budget vote on June 2nd. Stay tuned as we approach the start of FY2026!
Mark your calendars– Chelsea will be kicking off the 250th Anniversary of the Battle of Chelsea Creek celebrations on Saturday, May 24th, at Port Park. Don’t miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime event. Dive deep into Chelsea’s history with the naval battle that kickstarted the American revolution! Bring your family and friends to this free event and enjoy a day out by Chelsea’s waterfront.
