Chelsea Fire Edges Chelsea Police in Charity Basketball Game at CHS

In a closely contested battle of Chelsea first responders (Chelsea Police Department vs Chelsea Fire Department) Chelsea Fire came out victorious over Chelsea Police, 47-44, for the second year in a row.

The charity basketball game, organized by Police Sgt. Star Chung and others, benefited the Chelsea Community Connection Coalition.

The Chelsea Fire Department was led by head coach Firefighter Tony Martins and assistant coach Firefighter Carlos Carrasquillo.

 Kevin DeJesus led the Fire Department with 12 points. Jonathan “Bird” Morel (who proposed to his girlfriend right before tip-off) scored 7 points. Berto Gonzalez had 6 points, Fire Lieutenant John Coyne and Alex Monterrey each had 4 points, Jeff Flores and Rony Gomez each had 3 points, Danny Henriquez, Fire Captain Mike Lee, Antonio Nieves and Kevin Gomez each scored 2 points.

The Chelsea Police Department contingent was guided by head coach, Captain Brian Dunn, and assistant coach Francisco Molina. Officer Luis Diaz was the leading scorer for his team with 14 points. Tom Broman had 7 points, Mustafa Mirza had 5 points. Police Sergeant Mike Addonizio, Peter Lopez, and Richard Laft each had 4 points. Carlos DelCompare and Jonathan Perez each had 3 points.
