Chelsea Library Promotes Summer Reading

The Chelsea Public Library will be hosting a month-long series in June to kick off its summer reading program – which starts in July.

Children’s’ Librarian Kathryn Palencia invited various circus acts (from a stilt-walker to a juggler) to have ambient performances in front of City Hall for the after-school crowd, from 2:30-3:30 p.m. The ambient performers will be there every Thursday in June. This was funded by the Chelsea Cultural Council.

“I want the series to let folks, especially the kids, know that they can visit the library in the summer to participate in the summer reading,” said Palencia.

The theme for this year’s summer reading program is “Tails and Tales” (or “Colas y Cuentos” in Spanish) which is sponsored by the Chelsea Public Library, the Massachusetts Library System, the Boston Bruins, and the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.

Don’t miss the fun on City Hall Lawn starting this Thursday, and certainly don’t forget to register for this year’s Summer Reading Program.
