Governor Deval Patrick’s visit to Chelsea two weeks ago showed how important community organizers are to the political process.
Everyone the governor greeted at the Boys and Girls Club was an organizer working on the streets of Chelsea to register voters, to spread the word that the election is coming.
This type of get together with city organizers, young people interested in the system and in being involved with it, and who feel their efforts can change the world or get their man elected, is exactly what is needed all over the nation.
It is exactly what Governor Patrick needs if he is to be re-elected.
He came to Chelsea to cheer on the troops and to say thank you.
And frankly, it was very impressive to see what happens at the grass roots level in this city before a great statewide election.
