Charlie Valentin

August 28, 1964 – March 30, 2024

Relatives and friends are most kindly invited to attend visiting hours for Charlie Valentin on Monday, April 8th from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Welsh Funeral Home, 718 Broadway, Chelsea, his funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Tuesday, April 9th at 9 a.m. immediately followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Rose Church, 600 Broadway, Chelsea at 10 a.m. Services will conclude with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. 

At 59 years of age, Charlie passed away unexpectedly in his home on Saturday, March 30th. 

Born and raised in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, he was the beloved son of the late Isabel Santiago and Antonio Valentin. He was a resident of Chelsea for most of his life and was living in Salem for the past three years.

Charlie worked primarily as a line chef for the Chelsea Jewish Nursing and Jevellis’ Restaurant in East Boston.  He also worked as pre-school teacher “Professor” to the children at the Kangaroo Pouch in Chelsea.  He was a lifelong devoted Catholic and spiritual person.  He would often lead rosary services for his family and many others in need of these prayers.

He is fondly remembered for his charismatic and humorous personality and for sharing his talents cooking for his family.

In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by two brothers.

He was the dear brother of Maria Valentin Santiago, Linda Cintron, Luis Cintron, Luis J. Cintron, the late Jose A. Valentin and Augusto Valentin.  He Is also survived by his loving goddaughter, numerous nieces, nephews, his adoptive family members and dear friends.

Santa Marquez

August 11, 1943 – March 30, 2024

Relatives and friends are most kindly invited to attend the funeral for Santa Marquez on Thursday, April 4th at 9 a.m. in the Welsh Funeral Home, 718 Broadway, Chelsea to be immediately followed by a Funeral Service in San Lucas Episcopal Church, 205 Washington Ave., Chelsea at 10 a.m.  Services will conclude with interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

Santa passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 30th In the peaceful surroundings of her home with her family at her side. She was 80 years of age.

Born and raised in Arroyo, Puerto Rico, she was the beloved daughter of the late Juan Marquez and Rosa DeJesus.

As a young lady, Santa lived briefly in New York and Chicago before settling in Chelsea where she has resided for the past 49 years. 

She was passionately devoted to home and family and raised her family of three daughters and two sons.  Santa also worked outside of her home as a material sorter for Beacon Wiper in Chelsea.

In addition to her parents, Santa was also predeceased by a son, a grandson and four of her siblings.

She was the devoted mother of Olga Gomez, Betsy Gomez, Rafael Gomez, Mirella Marquez, and the late Walter Bones; the cherished grandmother; “Mama” of Emmanuel, Juan, Rosaly, Emily, Elaine, Giselle, Gianni, Deveney and the late Jonathan; adored great grandmother of Leilani, Bella, Ezekial, Jayleen, Nevaeh, Marcel, Elianni and Nino and dear sister of Lioney, Ilia, and Eddie.  She is also survived by many extended family members and friends.

 Arrangements were given to the care and direction of the Welsh Funeral Home, Chelsea.

Alejandro “Alex” Coello

September 9, 1949 – March 28, 2024

Relatives and friends are most kindly invited to attend calling hours for Alejandro “Alex” Coello on Saturday, April 6th from 12 noon to 2 p.m. in the Welsh Funeral Home, 718 Broadway, Chelsea. A prayer and remembrance service will be held in the Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Services will conclude in the Funeral Home.

Alex passed away on Thursday, March 28th at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston after a brief illness, he was 74 years of age. 

Born and raised in San Pedro Sula, Honduras he was one of four children of the late Jose Braulio Coello and Maria Josefa Guillen.

He came to the United States as a young man and was a resident of Chelsea for the past 40 plus years.  He was devoted to family and home, raising two sons and he worked as a vehicle transporter for Avis Car Rental at Logan Airport.

He was a soccer aficionado, supporter and devoted fan of C.D. Marathon and was a member of Club Deportivo Marathon.  In his lifetime, Alex was an advocate for social justice and labor unionism.

The devoted father of Gerry Coello of Chelsea and Gregorio Coello of Brighton, he was the former husband of Marjorie Coello of Medford, the dear brother of Marco Antonio of Honduras and the late Estela Rodriguez and Raul Guillen.

Nicholas J. Lehmann

June 4, 1968 – March 30, 2024

Relatives and friends are most kindly invited to attend visiting hours for Nicholas J. Lehmann NEXT Friday, April 12th from 3 to 7 p.m. in the Welsh Funeral Home, 718 Broadway, Chelsea.  A vigil service will be conducted from the funeral home during the visitation at 6 p.m. Services will conclude in the Funeral Home at 7 p.m.

Nick passed away on Saturday, March 30th at the Lahey Clinic Hospital in Burlington after a sudden decline in health, he was 55 years of age.

Born and raised in Chelsea, he was a lifelong resident of Chelsea where he attended local schools and graduated from Dom Savio High School, Class of 1986.  He continued his education at the University of Massachusetts where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree. 

He worked as a Laboratory Manager at Caleb Brett.  This job brought him to live in New Jersey for a short time.  He also worked a Technical Project Manager with Millennium Pharmaceuticals.

Nick has been residing in Gloucester for the past six years and was an all-around Boston Sports Fan.

He was a loving son of the late Arthur J. and Nancy Ann (Welsh) Lehmann, the late father of Aria Lehmann and Nicholas Lehmann and dear brother of Arthur “Buddy” Lehmann and his wife, Maureen of Tewksbury and Chris J, Lehmann and his wife, Cindy of Beverly.  He is also survived by several extended family members and friends.
