Andres Pineda

63-Years-Old

At 63 years of age, Andres Pineda, a resident of Somerville for the past 15 years and formerly of Chelsea, passed away at the Mass. General Hospital in Boston on July 25.

Born and raised in Santiago de la Frontera, El Salvador he was a beloved son of Hortencia Cea and the late Jose Domingo Pineda. 

Andres settled in Chelsea as a young man and worked as a landscaper and property caretaker.   He enjoyed playing pool and time exercising at the gym. 

He is survived by his mother Hortencia Cea of Chelsea and 11 brothers and sisters. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. 

Funeral arrangements were by the Welsh Funeral Home, 718 Broadway, Chelsea. Services concluded with interment at Oaklawn Cemetery in Roslindale.

Kathleen McEneny

June 26, 1951 – July 20, 2023

Katheen (Manchur) McEneny passed away on Thursday, July 20 after living courageously with pulmonary illness for several years. ​

She was 72 years of age.

Born and raised in Chelsea, she was the beloved daughter and stepdaughter of the late Stanley Manchur, the late Claire (Barca) Sledzinski and William Sledzinski.

Kathleen attended St. Rose Parochial and St. Rose High School. She trained as a flight attendant and began her career as a flight attendant/stewardess with Pan Am Airlines and later continued with Delta Airlines.

Kathleen just retired from the airlines last year.

Kathleen lived a lifetime full of traveling with her beloved companion, Gordon Burgess.​

She enjoyed downhill skiing, dancing and playing board games, gardening around her home growing fresh vegetables, spending holidays with family, and traveling around world learning about many cultures and historic facts.

Kathleen is survived by her beloved companion, Gordon Burgess. ​

She was the dear sister of Joanne B. Manchur and her companion, Alice Beamer of Brockton and the late Lawrence L. Riddell, Sr., survived by his wife, Linda Riddell of Rowley; cherished aunt of Lawrence L. Riddell, Jr., his wife Karen and their son Owen of Wakefield and Brenda Riddell and her husband, Ken Goodrich of Rowley. She is also survived by numerous cousins, extended family members and friends.

Maria Julia Montes vda de Lopez

Abril 19, 1943 – Julio 31, 2023

A los 80 años, María falleció el lunes 31 de julio en las manos amorosas de su señor y Salvador.

Nacida y criada en Apastepéque, El Salvador, fue una de los 4 hijos de Sara Montes y Pablo Hernández.  Su madre falleció cuando María tenía solo 7 años, y asumió el manto de madre de sus hermanos menores.

María estaba casada con Rosalio López y se dedicó al hogar y la familia y crió a 13 hijos.  María era apasionada por el hogar y la familia. 

Llegó a los Estados Unidos desde El Salvador y fue residente de Revere durante los últimos 20 años.  Le gustaba cultivar flores en su casa. 

Ella era una católica devota y feligresa de la Iglesia de San José en Lynn, donde era muy activa en la vida parroquial, también era un miembro dinámico del Grupo de Oración de Sanación en su tierra natal de El Salvador.  Se mantuvo activa con ese grupo incluso después de mudarse a Revere.  Viajó a menudo a El Salvador y se propuso llevar bienes y pagadores a los menos afortunados. Estaba entusiasmada por compartir su fe y amor por su Señor y Salvador, Jesucristo, con personas de todas las edades.  Hablar ansiosamente con adultos y niños pequeños ofreciendo orientación espiritual y de oración. 

Ella era una apasionada defensora de sus comunidades tanto aquí como en El Salvador.  Cuando visitaba El Salvador, siempre traía necesidades y ayuda financiera a aquellos que veía menos afortunados que ella.  Su generosidad era una cualidad por la que su familia y amigos la recordaban con cariño.

María falleció antes que sus padres, una hermana, un hijo y su esposo Rosalio en 2008.  Le sobreviven amorosamente sus 12 hijos restantes, más de 50 nietos y más de 5 bisnietos.

Los familiares y amigos están amablemente invitados a asistir a las horas de visita en la funeraria Welsh, 718 Broadway, Chelsea el viernes 4 de agosto de 4:00 p.m. a 8:00 p.m.. María será colocada para descansar en su tierra ancestral en El Salvador.

Maria Julia Montes vda de Lopez

April 19, 1943 – July 31, 2023

At   80   years,  Maria Julia Montes vda de Lopez  passed   away   on   Monday,   July   31   into   the loving hands of her lord and Savior.

Born and raised in Apastepéque, El Salvador, she was one of four vchildren of Sara Montes and Pablo Hernandez.  Her mother passed when Maria was only seven years old, and she assumed the mantle of mother to her younger siblings.

Maria was married to Rosalio Lopez and was passionately devoted to home and family and raised 13 children. 

She came to the US from El Salvador and was a resident of Revere for the past 20 years.  She enjoyed gardening and growing flowers around her home. 

She was a devoted Catholic and parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church in Lynn where she was very active in parish life, she was also an dynamic member of the Healing Prayer Group in her homeland of El Salvador.  She stayed active with that group even after she moved to Revere.  She traveled often to El Salvador and made it her goal to bring goods and payers to those less fortunate. She was enthusiastic about sharing her faith and love of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ with people of all ages.  Eagerly talking with adults and young children offering prayerful and spiritual guidance. 

She was a passionate supporter of her communities both here and in El Salvador. 

When visiting El Salvador, she would always bring necessities and financial aid to those she saw as less fortunate than herself.  Her selfness giving was a quality she is fondly remembered for by family and friends.

Maria was predeceased by her parents, a sister, a son and her husband, Rosalio in 2008.  She is lovingly survived by her 12 remaining children, 50 plus grandchildren and five plus great-grandchildren.

Relatives   and   friends   are   most   kindly   invited   to   attend   visiting   hours   in   the   Welsh Funeral Home, 718 Broadway, Chelsea on Friday, August 4,  from 4 to 8 p.m.

Maria will be placed to rest in her ancestral homeland in El Salvador.

Mary Ann Spinney

November 11, 1946 -July 27, 2023

Mary   Ann   (Lachnicki) Spinney,   76,   of   Lowell   St,   Peabody,   passed   away   on Thursday, July 27 at home from her battle with cancer.

Born and raised in Chelsea, Mary Ann was a beloved daughter of the late Evelyn (Orchard) Morabito and Anthony Lachnicki.

Mary   Ann   was   married   to   Ernest   D.   Spinney   for   28   years   and together raised their five children.​

She was passionately devoted to home and family,   and   Mary   Ann   had   the   love   of   being   a   foster mother to many.

She enjoyed decorating her home inside and out for the holidays, especially decorating for Halloween, which was her favorite holiday.​

She loved gardening, doing many arts and   crafts,   spending   time   with   her   grandchildren   and   great-grandchildren, and she dearly loved her animals, Benny, and Brat.

Mary Ann was pre-deceased by her beloved husband, Ernest D. Spinney in 1995.

She leaves their five children: Evelyn M. Anzalone and her husband, Mark of Malden, Ernest  D.  Spinney  of  Peabody,  Eldred   C.  Spinney  of  Revere,  Raneay  L.  Kobus  and her husband, Richard and Joseph Spinney, all of Peabody. Mary Ann was the cherished grandmother of Eldred Spinney of Chelsea, the late Ernest Spinney,   Mark   Anzalone   of   Malden,   Katelyn   Spinney   of   Malden,   Corey   Spinney   of Lowell, Samantha Pena of Peabody, Michael Anzalone of Malden, Cecilia Spinney of New   Hampshire,   Savanah   Spinney   of   New   Hampshire,   Selena   Mendes   of   Everett, Maddison Anzalone​of Malden, Zoe Kobus of Peabody, Alan Sheehan​ and Aliana Sheehan of Revere, Joseph Spinney Jr. of Concord, and Abriella Spinney of Concord.

She was the adored great-grandmother of seven great-grandchildren, and the dear   sister   of   the   late   John   Morabito,   Deborah   Hendricks   of   Revere,   the   late   Linda Morabito, Richard Morabito of Maine, Donna Egan of Florida, and Dominic Morabito of Lynn. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Her Funeral will be conducted from the Welsh Funeral Home, 718 Broadway, Chelsea today, Thursday, August 3​, at 10 a.m. Services will conclude with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.

Chester A. Zaremba

August 26, 1926 -July 29, 2023

Chester “Chet” Zaremba,​ 96, a lifelong resident of Chelsea, died peacefully​ in his sleep in the comfort of his home on July 29, after a short period of declining health following almost a century of strength and resilience. He spent his final evening celebrating his beloved wife’s 97th birthday together with his ​ family.

In addition to Annie (McInnis), his wife of nearly 67 years, he is survived by his four loving daughters, Anne Fischer and her husband Martin of Ellicott City, MD; Susan Moore and her husband, John of Peabody;​ Jane Szarythe and her husband, Richard “Turk” of Chelsea and Nancy Dawson and her husband, Jay of Ipswich. He was​ a loving Grandfather “Dziadzie” to Bethany, Brycen and his wife, Jen and Kallie Fischer, Shauna Moore, Luke Szarythe, Amanda Szarythe Goel and her husband, Anurag; Emma, Abigail and Jack Dawson and proud great-grandfather​ of Rowan Fischer (and her soon-to-be sister).

He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Vera Barys, Lucille Owocki, Agnes Pretti, Edward Zaremba, Stanley Zaremba and Thaddeus Zaremba.

Chet was born on August 26, 1926 in Chelsea to the late Waclaw Zaremba and Marianna (Lukasiak.)​ He attended St. Stanislaus​ Elementary School and graduated from Boston Trade High School.

After graduation, he was drafted into the Army and was proud to serve his country during WWII while stationed in Japan and the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1952 and went on to attend Wentworth Institute on the G.I. Bill. He worked as a draftsman for 35 years at Bethlehem Steel and the Charlestown/Portsmouth Navy Yards, specializing in nuclear submarines. He was the recipient of many drafting awards and was recognized for his innovative and efficient designs.

As a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church and Our Lady of Grace Parish, Chet was very active in his faith, traveling on pilgrimages to Japan, Korea, China, Poland, and Israel. He was a lifetime member and past officer of the Polish American Veterans, Post 13, Chelsea. He enjoyed vacationing with family in Aruba and especially at his summer home on Cape Cod. Chet was an animal lover (some would say animal whisperer) and was rarely without a pet by his side. He enjoyed cooking and was known for his heritage dishes, including cabbage soup and golumpki. He was an avid Boston sports fan and enjoyed attending and discussing the latest games with his grandsons.

Chet’s deepest passions were his faith and family. He loved God and modeled prayerfulness. He took pleasure in keeping up with the details, activities, and achievements of each family member and was immensely proud of all of them. He leaves behind a legacy of loyalty and love and will be greatly missed by many.

His funeral will begin from the Welsh Funeral Home on Friday, August 4 at 9 a.m. immediately followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Grace Church, 59 Nichols Street, Chelsea at 10 a.m. Services will conclude with interment​ at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
