Progressive Unions Endorse City Councillor Calvin Brown

Boston Carmen’s Union Local 589, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 103 and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 25 have endorsed Chelsea District 8 City Councilor Calvin Brown for re-election.  “I am grateful and flattered that three of the most progressive labor unions in Greater Boston have endorsed my campaign for re-election,” said Councilor Brown.  The endorsements cited Brown’s efforts on behalf of working families in Chelsea and his legislative work during COVID-19.

The Boston Carmen’s Union Local 589 has worked tirelessly on behalf of its members since 1912.  International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 103 is a strong voice for labor and a leader on policy issues ranging from worker’s rights to renewable energy.  The International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 25 has been a progressive voice for communities and workers throughout Eastern Massachusetts.

“Chelsea needs leadership that will address the concerns of people who go to work everyday in our city,” said Brown.  He added “now more than ever we need the strong presence of organized labor to help our families survive the health and economic consequences of COVID-19.”  Councillor Brown also stated that this will be the first in a series of endorsements from organized labor, community leaders and progressive organizations.
