CAPIC held its annual Candlelight Vigil Program at Winnisimmet Park.
The inscription on the beautifully designed booklet for the event read: “Today and every day we remember the beautiful lives cut short by addiction. You are never forgotten.”
Gladya Valentin-Agneta, SUDS Program Director at CAPIC, delivered the words of welcome for the speaking program.
City Manager Fidel Maltez said, “It is my honor to welcome everyone into this celebration of life and night of remembrance. We in Chelsea believe and work really hard to ensure that everyone in our community has the support that is needed. We cannot do it without all the partners that are here today, whether it’s Bay Cove, HarborCOV, North Suffolk, or CAPIC. Thank you for everything you do. Thank you for reminding us that none of us are alone, and that we all have our struggles. We will get through this together. If you’re alone, please seek help. Chelsea is a community that is welcoming and is here to work with you.”
Rico Negron Ocasio of Bay Cove led the group in prayer. Hector Colon and the Chelsea High School choral group, Cantare, performed at the event.
Theresa DiPietro, Director of Permanent Supportive Housing Services at Bay Cove, presented the closing address to conclude a very impressive event.
