The Chelsea High School Class of 1971 55th Reunion

The Chelsea High School Class of 1971 held its 55th reunion Saturday, Oct. 10 at Rosaria Restaurant in Saugus.

Bruce Glazer, one of the most outstanding multi-sport athletes in the Class of 1971 and a member of the Reunion Committee, delivered the welcoming remarks.

Glazer acknowledged the hospitality of New Brown Jug owner and Reunion Committee member Michael Matrinko who hosted several committee meetings at his popular restaurant.

Glazer introduced Committee Chair Joyce Annese, expressing the Class of 1971’s appreciation for her leadership in the planning and coordinating of the celebration.

“This beautiful reunion would not be possible without the tremendous effort and work of this woman, who put this thing together,” credited Glazer. “It’s been a pleasure working with her for all these years.”

Annese received a warm ovation from her classmates upon her introduction by Glazer.

“Welcome to our 55th Reunion, 55 years and we’re here, we made it,” said Annese. “This is our seventh reunion.”

Annese said there were 297 graduates of the Class of 1971, and 63 classmates and 15 guests were in attendance.

Annese thanked the hard-working Reunion Committee, introducing each member.

“Let’s use the night to remember old friendships, have fun, eat, drink, dance, and be merry. Thank you, everyone. Have fun,” concluded Annese, a star among stars on the Reunion Committee.

The guests enjoyed a delicious buffet dinner and dancing to the music of well-known DJ Alan LaBella.

Annese led a moment of silent tribute to the 63 deceased members of the class who were honored in a special memorial display inside the function room.
