It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John J. Connors, Jr., fondly known as “Jack,” who left us unexpectedly at the age of 88 in his home on August 5, 2026.
Born on July 21, 1938 in Boston and raised in Revere, Jack was the beloved son of the late John J., Sr. and Catherine (James) Connors. He was the devoted husband to Delia Joan (Mallet) Connors, sharing a wonderful 56 years of marriage before her passing in 2017. Together, they raised three children, and he poured his love into his family, including his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jack is survived by his children, Paulette Velastegui, Juliann Boesch and her husband, Roberto, and Robert Connors, as well as his daughter-in-law Deborah Connors. He was a proud grandfather to Timothy Velastegui, Daniel Velastegui, Kaitlyn Jessee, Christina Boesch, Robert Michael Connors, Rebecca Connors, and Rileigh Connors, and delighted in the joy of his two great-grandchildren, Colbie and Malcolm. He is also survived by several extended family members and friends.
Jack was a man of many talents. After his early work at Revere Sugar and Meyers Bros. Parking in Boston, he became a skilled metal finisher and polisher for Market Forge, dedicating many years to crafting and polishing stainless-steel items used in hospitals, restaurants and other commercial industries. Even after retirement, Jack’s love for community continued—he was current member of the Chelsea Board of Registrars and enjoyed his early mornings gathering with friends for coffee at the local Market Basket, playing bocce with the Chelsea Senior Center, and indulging in the delightful ice cream socials.
A passionate sports fan, Jack cheered on his Boston teams—the Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics, and Bruins—and also had a soft spot for the WNBA’s Indiana Fever.
Jack’s family and friends will come together to honor his memory at Welsh Funeral Home, 718 Broadway, Chelsea today, August 13 at 10 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Grace Church, 59 Nichols St., Chelsea at 11 a,m. He will then be laid to rest beside his beloved wife at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.
Jack Connors will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and countless memories that will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
