Serrano wins two medals at D-3 Meet
Chelsea High star track and field athlete Lilly Serrano brought home two ribbons from last Wednesday’s MIAA Division 3 State Meet that was held at The Track at New Balance in Brighton.
Lilly finished third in the 55 meter dash with a sprint of 7.26 and seventh in the 300m dash in a clocking of 42.09. She also competed in the high jump, finishing in 10th place with a leap of 4’-10”. That jump was short of her personal record of 5’-2” that Lilly had set the previous week in winning the GBL Championship Meet and that would have been good for second place at the D-3 Meet.
Serrano’s performance accounted for all eight of Chelsea’s points at the meet.
Fellow multi-talented teammate Thania Simon finished in 13th place in the long jump with her leap of 15’-6.5” and came across the line in 22nd place in the 300m dash in 44.36.
For the CHS boys, Kevin Romero-Molina finished in 13th place in the shot-put with a toss of 42’-7.75” and Xavier Guzman placed 21st in the 600m with a time of 1:29.19.
The Red Devil 4 x 800 relay quartet of Guzman, Carlos Perez-Acosta, Sebastian Molina Regil, and Bryan Amaya-Yanes finished in 19th place with a time of 9:11.67.
