The City of Chelsea is now accepting applications for its Senior Tax-Work-Off Program and Veterans Tax Work-Off Program designed to help eligible Chelsea adults aged 60 and older and veterans earn a reduction of up to $1,500 off their annual real estate taxes.
Applications and full information about the program are available online at www.chelseama.gov/PTWOP and in-person at Chelsea’s Human Resources Department located at room 301 in Chelsea City Hall.
If a senior/veteran qualifies for either program, they will be employed by the City of Chelsea in one of its departments. The City offers a range of positions, including clerical roles and opportunities with the Department of Public Works. Selected applicants can work up to 100 hours per year, earning $15 per hour.
The deadline to apply is January 31, 2026.
Qualifications for the Property Tax Work-Off Programs
Must be 60 years of age or older OR a veteran
Must be owner occupied (or spouse of owner)
Must be beneficiary or trustee on deed of said property
There is a limit of 25 participants per year, in the event that the City receives more than 25 participants a lottery will be held to determine the year’s participants.
