Richard L. Macomber
Formerly of Chelsea
Richard (Dick) L. Macomber, formerly of Chelsea, MA, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on January 1, 2025, at the age of 90. Richard was the beloved son of his late parents, George Macomber and Frances (Ruszkiewicz-Weiss) Macomber of Chelsea, along with his three late brothers, Eugene Macomber, Robert Macomber and George Macomber II. Richard played football for the Chelsea Red Devils in high school and later continued his love for sports, playing softball and basketball in local Chelsea leagues. Richard also loved fishing on his boat with family and friends or on the golf course in the summer, and hunting pheasant and deer during the hunting season. Early in his law enforcement career, Richard was a CO at Deer Island House of Correction in Winthrop and spent his later years at the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department in Boston until he retired and moved to Naples, Florida to be closer to his two daughters. Richard is survived by his loving wife Theresa Macomber of Naples, FL (formerly Possemato of Everett, MA); his ex-wife, Phyllis (Shepard) Macomber of Sunrise, Florida; his son, Rick Macomber and his partner Leena Thoeung; his daughter, Kim (Macomber) Poulin and her husband Damien Poulin; and his daughter, Nanci Macomber. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law Meechee Macomber, and his four grandchildren, Coree (Macomber) Dovev and her husband Seth Dovev; Taylor Macomber, Derek Poulin and Erica Poulin. Richard was also blessed with his two great-grandchildren, Hannah and Noah Dovev.
