The Zonta Club of Chelsea & North Shore recently held its monthly meeting at The Marina Restaurant at the Wharf in Revere. Four members of the Zonta Club of Medford were guests at the meeting.
Councilor Santagate was guest speaker
Lisa Santagate, a Chelsea city councilor who was honored by the Zonta Club on March 8, International Women’s Day, for her commitment to helping women and their families, was the guest speaker.
Santagate shared her experiences living and teaching in Zambia for 15 years. Santagate returned to Chelsea in 2008 and continued as an educator in the Chelsea School Department until she retired in 2024.
Earlier the Zonta Club made a donation to Zonta International in honor of Santagate’s outstanding record of public service that includes overseeing a micro-food pantry on Shurtleff Street.
Santagate was elected to the Chelsea City Council in November, 2023. Santagate traveled with the local delegation to Denver in 2014 when Chelsea was an honored as an All-America City during City Manager Jay Ash’s Administration.
