Dr. Almi G. Abeyta, superintendent of Chelsea public schools, was installed as president of the Rotary Club of Chelsea at the organization’s Installation of Officers Dinner Sept. 19 at the Hilton Garden Inn, East Boston.
Abeyta deiivered an inspiring inaugural after taking the oath of office. Abeyta also presented the Past President’s Award to outgoing President Rick Gopen.
The Rotary Club honored longtime members Susan Gallant and Michael Falzone as Rotarians of the Year.
Eight community leaders were presented Paul Harris Fellow Awards for 2023. The recipients and presenters were Amanda Alpert (Allan I. Alpert), Joan Cromwell (Juan Gallego and Saritin Rizzuto), Marilyn Garcia (Madelyn Garcia), Stacey Gurska (Frank Kowalski), Gail Mauch (D. Bruce Mauch), June Vinard (Joe Vinard), Kathy Webber (Ken Webber), and Helen Zucco (Rotary Club of Chelsea).
D. Bruce Mauch headlined the “Perfect Attendance” Award presentations, being honored for 39 years of not missing a meeting. Also recognized for Perfect Attendance were Joseph Vinard (13 years), Juan Gallego (8 years), David Mindlin (6 years), Allan Alpert (4 years), Dr. Almi G. Abeyta (2 years), Rick Gopen (2 years), and Dr. Aaron Jennings (1 year).
