CHS Track Teams Come Up Short vs. Revere
The Chelsea High girls and boys indoor track and field teams received some outstanding performances, but came up short in their meet with Revere last week.
The CHS girls dropped a closely-fought, 40-38 decision to their Revere counterparts.
First-place finishers for the Lady Red Devils were: Angel Tate in the shot-put; Gizelle Rodriguez in the mile; and Holly Hattleberg in the two-mile.
In addition, the quartet of Gizelle Rodriguez, Giselle Olivar, Jasmine Maradiaga, and Darily Sanchez took first in the 4 x 400 relay to add five points to the Chelsea side of the scoresheet.
A host of Chelsea girls took second place in their respective individual events: Rodriguez in the high jump; Valerie Ramirez in the 50 yard dash; Darily Sanchez in the 300 meter dash; Jasmine Maradiaga in the 600 dash; and Giselle Olivar in the 1000.
Adding single points to the CHS total with third-place performances were: Dhalia Christmas in the shot-put; Reina Martino in the 600; and Rosalinda Rojas in the 1000.
On the boys’ side, the Red Devils came up on the short end of a 52-33 decision.
Jeffrey Ponce in the shot-put and Johnny Maldonado in the mile won their events.
Second-place finishers were: Ali Warsame in the 300 dash; Nate Nadow in the 600; Sebastian Rendon in the 1000; and Alex Estrada in the mile.
Adding single points to the CHS cause with third-place efforts were: Emmanuel Simon in the 50 yard dash; Nasir Adams in the 50 yard hurdles; Kevin Cruz in the shot-put; Austin Freeman in the 600; Jose Olivar in the 1000; and Alejandro Zepeda in the mile.
Coach Cesar Hernandez and his team were scheduled to take on Medford tomorrow (Friday) and Everett next Wednesday.
