Sister Eleanor Pierce

71-Year Religious Sister

Eleanor Pierce, daughter of the late Don and Ella Pierce of Chelsea, passed away peacefully on November 23 at 90 years of age. A former resident of Saint Rose Convent in Chelsea, she was most currently enjoying a comfortable retirement at Saint Mary of the Woods, Indiana. As a member of The Sisters of Providence, she dedicated 71 years to serving God and her beloved community. Her contributions were appreciated and she will be missed by many. She is survived by her sister, Patricia Pierce of Chelsea and by many nieces and nephews. Her Funeral Mass was held in the Church of the Immaculate Conception at Saint Mary of the Woods, Indiana.

Lily Winsor

Lifelong Chelsea Resident

Lily (Roberts) Winsor passed away on December 1 at the Colonial Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center in Weymouth. Born and raised in Chelsea, the daughter of the late Arthur and Mary Ann (Bradbury) Roberts and the wife of the late Harry Winsor, Lily worked for a few different businesses throughout her career, before retiring in 1983. She worked for Hub Electric testing starters for fluorescent lights and also in gift wrapping at the former Hysil Mfg. Inc in Revere for 25 dedicated years. Lily was a volunteer and member of the Ladies Home League of the Salvation Army in Chelsea. She was a lifelong resident of Chelsea before moving to Weymouth to be near her niece for supportive care.   She was the sister of the late Arthur Roberts Jr., William J. Roberts, Eliza Russell and Susie Mae Barrett; beloved aunt of Connie Thornton of Weymouth, Major Edward C. Russell and his wife, Darlene of Pennsylvania and Carol Christensen of Rockport; dear friend of Serena Joyce and her family of Revere and is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted at The Salvation Army Citadel, 258 Chestnut St., Chelsea today, Thursday, December 5 at 10 a.m. Major Edward C. Russell of the Salvation Army will be officiate at his aunt’s services. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment will follow the services at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Funeral arrangements are by the William R. Carafa & Son Home For Funerals 389 Washington Ave. Chelsea.

Jeanette ‘Jenny’ Guerrieo

Of Chelsea

Jeanette “Jenny” Guerrieo of Chelsea died on November 27. The beloved daughter of the late Domenic and Florence Guerrieo, she is survived by her loving nephews, Domenic Guerrieo and his wife, Patricia, Lou Guerrieo and his wife, Maureen, Anthony Guerrieo and his wife, Martha and her niece, Judy Cook and her husband, Norman and by many beloved extended family members. Funeral arrangements were by the Salvatore Rocco and Sons Funeral Home, Everett. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Phyllis Swartz

Of Winthrop, formerly of Chelsea

Phyllis (Gilman) Swartz of Winthrop, formerly of Chelsea, passed away on November 29. She was 91 years old. Phyllis was born and raised in Chelsea, attended Chelsea Schools and graduated from Chelsea High School, Class of 1941. An audit clerk for the Internal Revenue Service in Boston, retiring in 1982, she was a member and former committee chairman for the Winthrop Art Association and a former leader of both the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. Phyllis enjoyed traveling, reading, crafting, watching game shows and spending time with her loving and devoted family. She was the beloved wife of the late Irving Swartz; the devoted mother of Samuel Swartz and his wife, Linda Mangion, Cindy Carrigan and her husband, Joseph and the late Ann-Bonnie Baseman and her husband, Robert; the dear sister of the late Bernice Berk and the loving grandmother of Andrew, Natalie, Brendan, Ryan and his wife, Alicia, and Ruth. She is also survived by two great grandchildren. Services were held at Torf Funeral Chapel, Chelsea on December 1. Interment was in Everett.
