Erasing the Bunker Hill Holiday in Suffolk County is a disgrace.
It is an insult to all those who died or were wounded fighting the British at Bunker Hill in the name of the Revolution.
The holiday, so say the Legislature, was too expensive and too meaningless to maintain.
We don’t agree.
Now comes the reality that in order not to celebrate the Bunker Hill Holiday, nothing will be saved because a union contract must be honored which will cost taxpayers an added $1 million for the holiday not to be celebrated.
There you have it, another outrage heaped upon us by the state Legislature.
When is this type of outrage going to stop?
