Arthur Pitts

He was very well known for his friendly, caring, outgoing personality and his ability to make everyone laugh

Arthur J. Pitts, 81 of East Boston, formerly of Chelsea, passed away at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, on Sunday, May 3, 2026, surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness. He was born on October 14, 1944 to Catherine “Kay” (Hoefer) and William Howard Pitts Sr.

Arthur was very well known for his friendly, caring, outgoing personality and his ability to make everyone laugh. He was a man known for his loyalty, warmth and the deep connections he built with everyone fortunate enough to have known him.  He was an avid fan of all Boston sports teams and professional wrestling.

Arthur attended Chelsea schools, worked as a taxi driver and dispatcher in Chelsea for over 28 years. He was also a cook for multiple businesses and merchant marine vessels. He worked for United Airlines for many years up to his retirement.

Arthur was predeceased by his brothers: William Jr., Robert and Richard, as well as his sisters, Virginia Brookins and Mary Pettengill. He leaves behind his dear friend, Serena G, his sister in-law,. Lien Pitts, many nephews, nieces, cousins and a large circle of family and friends who will carry his memory forward with love and gratitude.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours in the Carafa Family Funeral Home, 389 Washington Ave., Chelsea on Friday, May 8 from 9 to 11 a.m. followed by a Funeral Service in the Funeral Home at 11 a.m.  Interment to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.
