Happy 91st Birthday, Bob Fee!

We want to wish a “Happy Birthday” to our former running partner, Bobby Fee, who celebrated his 91st birthday this past Sunday.

Bob was one of the all-time great athletes in Chelsea High history and went on to enjoy a stellar football career at Indiana. He played football with the Chelsea Nu-Way Sweepers semi-pro team and was a hair-width away from being selected for the original Boston Patriots pro football team.

Bob went on to coach the Chelsea High football team and became both successful and well-respected in the coaching fraternity.

But beyond his many accomplishments, Bob has been one of our city’s greatest and most well-liked citizens for his entire life. He is a man who has led a life of great integrity. When we think of Bobby Fee, it brings to mind the cathartic closing lines from the movie, Saving Private Ryan:  “Tell me I’ve led a good life. Tell me I’m a good man.”

Bobby Fee has led an exemplary life and has been a great man. We know we join with all of our long-time Chelsea residents in wishing Bob, “Happy Birthday,” with many more to come — as well as one more thing: “Go Hoosiers!”
