Stacey Gurska, a Pre-K teacher at the John Silber Early Learning Center, received a Name, Strength and Story Award from Chelsea Public Schools. The award was presented at the regular meeting of the Chelsea School Committee on Wednesday, April 9.
In addition to her teaching duties, Gurska works multiple days a week in the ELC’s afterschool program for kindergarten and first grade students. Gurska was born and raised in Chelsea, graduating from Chelsea High School in 1985.
“Stacey takes the time to get to know her students by name, strengths, and story, ensuring she understands their interests, families, and backgrounds as much as possible. As a result, Stacey is well-equipped to motivate and engage her students in their social-emotional and academic Learning” said ELC Principal Margo DiBiasio.
The ELC’s administrative team added that students respond well to Stacey’s “caring and empathic nature.” Prior to working at the ELC, Stacey owned a local childcare agency in Chelsea.
