Chacon-Arcena, Ramirez-Villata wins medals at State D-3 Meet
Two members of the Chelsea High boys and girls indoor track and field teams brought home medals at this past Friday’s MIAA Division 3 State Track Meet that was held at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center in Roxbury.
For the boys, Ariel Chacon-Aracena earned a second-place medal in the shot-put with a throw of 47’-8.75”, a distance that was 14.75” further than Ariel’s second-place effort at the Greater Boston League (GBL) championship meet the week before.
Red Devil teammates who also competed in the meet (for which competitors must achieve a qualifying time or distance during the
indoor season) were Xavier Guzman in the 600m with a superb 11th-place finish in a time of 1:28.07. Sherwin Kim also competed in the 600m and finished in 27th spot with a clocking of 1:35.35.
The Chelsea 4 x 400 relay quartet of Kim, Joao Cassim, Bryan Amaya, and Guzman came across the line in 20th place with a time of 3:46.51.
On the girls’ side, Kiara Ramirez-Villata scored a fourth-place medal in the shot with a toss of 35’-4.5”, a superb throw that was 16.5 inches further than her winning performance at the GBL championship meet the week before.
CHS sophomore Thania Simon competed in the 300 meter dash and finished in 15th place with a clocking of 43.67.
CHS boys hoop wraps up season
The Chelsea High boys basketball team was scheduled to wrap up its 2025 season this week.
Cesar Castro and his Red Devil crew were scheduled to compete in a tournament at Lynn Tech over the weekend and hosted Greater Boston League foe Lynn Classical yesterday (Wednesday) in their season finale.
CHS girls win two contests
The Chelsea High girls basketball team concluded its season on a positive note with a pair of victories in their final week of the season. The Lady Red Devils defeated Pioneer Charter School of Science, 49-38, on February 3 and then came back the following night to top Excel Academy, 41-29.
