DiDomenico Meets With Chelsea Students Advocating for Early College Funding

Last week, Senator Sal DiDomenico met with Chelsea High School students as they advocated for state funding for early college programs they are using and benefitting from. Senator DiDomenico is a longtime supporter of Early College and is proud to have worked with his colleagues in the Legislature to invest millions of dollars into these essential programs.

Only around 1 in 5 students from low-income homes and students of color in Massachusetts attain a college degree of any kind within six years of their high school graduation. Research has shown that Early College programs increase the odds of college enrollment for participating students by more than double.

“I am inspired by the passion and determination of these young advocates, and I am a proud supporter of Early College programs in my district and throughout the Commonwealth,” said Senator Sal DiDomenico. “These programs can help ensure all students get the same opportunity to acquire a college degree and I look forward to continue advocating for the investments these programs need in this year’s budget.”
