Renewing Their Vows: Nick and Minna Karas-Marino Celebrate Their 60th Anniversary

Nick Marino and Minna-Karas Marino were married on March 17, 1964.

Sixty years to the day in a beautiful ceremony at the Walnut Street Synagogue Sunday afternoon, the couple renewed its wedding vows in front of its proud and loving family.

Minna Karas-Marino grew up in Chelsea. Nick Marino was from the North End before his family moved to Medford.

We met at Hurley’s on Revere Beach,” said Minna. “When I walked in, there was a huge dance floor and he was up there dancing away, and I was like, wow! I just went over to him and we started dancing, and that was it.”

Asked why she wanted to renew her vows, Minna replied, “I don’t know why. It’s just something that I was thinking about it. I just thought it would be nice.”

And it couldn’t have been nicer, agreed Minna, Nick, and the family.

Rabbi Seth Novoselsky led an impressive ceremony under the huppa at the historic shul where Minna has been a long-time and active member. Nick had the honor of breaking the glass, a well-known tradition in Jewish ceremonies.

Nick and Minna-Karas Marino have two daughters, Stephanie and Lana, and four grandchildren, Bella, Gia, Claudia, and Dante.
