Arrested for Burglary

On Feb. 19, at 1:11 p.m., officers were dispatched to the HomeGoods store on Everett Avenue for a call of a shoplifting in progress. As police arrived, a male fled through the back door. Officers were able to find the male subject hiding under a trash bag near a barrel in an adjacent parking lot. The officers placed him under arrest and located on his person burglarious tools.

Kevin Bejar, 20, of Everett, was charged with shoplifting, unlawful deactivation of theft device, resisting arrest, two counts of possession of burglarious instruments, and five warrants.

Juvenile in Hit and Run

On Feb. 20, at 11:37 a.m., Chelsea Police received information that an older model Ford Explorer was the suspect vehicle in the hit and run at 44 Gerrish Ave. A Chelsea officer was on patrol in the area of Crescent and Cary avenues and observed a motor vehicle matching the description. The officer stopped the car for several motor vehicle violations.  The operator was a juvenile with no license; he was placed under arrest and was found to have a knife on his person.  

A Chelsea 16-year-old was charged with carrying a dangerous weapon and unlicensed operation. 

Stabbed In Head

On Feb. 23, at approximately 11:53 a.m., Chelsea officers responded to a report of a stabbing on Central Avenue.  On arrival, they observed the male victim with a non-life-threatening slash wound to this head. The alleged victim was uncooperative and told officers he had fallen. Officers on scene developed information that a fight had ensued at the location and were led to a male involved. That male was placed in custody after a knife and other evidence were seized. 

Jose Aguilar, 52, of 101 Congress Ave., was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (knife). 

Found Knife

On Feb. 24, at 10:45 a.m., a CPD officer observed a male party in the area of Fourth and Pearl streets believed to have active warrants for his arrest. Those warrants were confirmed, and the subject was placed under arrest. During a search, a switchblade knife was located on the male. He was additionally charged with carrying an illegal weapon.

Edward Diaz, 34, of Malden, was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and two warrants.

Man Found With Crack

On Feb. 24, at 11:10 p.m., officers were dispatched to 220 Broadway for a report of an intoxicated male who was refusing to leave the establishment. A security guard pointed to a male that was in the doorway of the business. The subject refused to leave the area and was placed under arrest. During the booking process, a rock-like substance believed to be cocaine was seized. He was additionally charged with illegal possession of Class B.

Almedin Katadzic, 37, of 165 Winnisimmet St., was charged with possession of a Class B drug (crack) and being an incapacitated person.
