Get out and vote

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I am a lifelong Democrat and a former At-Large City Councilor having served fourteen years in the neighboring city of Chelsea.  My wife Sandra and I are the parents of three wonderful children: Jazmin, Latisha, and Calvin Jr.   In my professional life, I work for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and serve as a Deacon at Zion Church Ministries in Everett, MA.  We live in a highly diverse senatorial district and I am writing to remind voters of Boston, Cambridge, Chelsea, and Everett to come out and vote on “Super Tuesday,” March 1, in the Presidential Primary election.

Every four years in Massachusetts, registered voters elect one male and one female from each state senatorial district to represent them on the Democratic State Committee (DSC).  It has been my honor to serve you as your voice and advocate in my role as State Committeeman.  I have taken this responsibility very seriously as I have worked for all of the constituents in the Middlesex and Suffolk District.

First elected in 2004, I have worked hard as a member of the Democratic Labor Committee to support our party in forming a platform that focuses on Education, Jobs, Voting Rights, Energy, and the Environment.  I now serve on the Campaign Services Committee for the DSC.  During my three terms on the DSC, we have accomplished a number of things, including high voter turnouts for candidates including Barack Obama, Elizabeth Warren, and Ed Markey.

I bring over a decade of organizing and leadership experience to the DSC.  I have helped the Party as a former Chairman of the Chelsea Ward 2 Democratic Committee and built camaraderie with other State Committee members.   These experiences have prepared me to work with local activists, clergy, and other organizations to ensure that the DSC communicates and empowers organizers.

I am running for reelection to continue to make our Party stronger and to strengthen our message with voters in the district and throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.  It is critical that the Massachusetts Democratic Party continues to listen to citizens and builds relationships with new and old voters.

I am asking for your support to make sure our party is strong and prepared to win the upcoming general election in November.  Please come out and vote in these historic elections on Super Tuesday, March 1 during the Presidential Primary.

Yours truly, Calvin T. Brown
