Housing Assembled in Cary Square

It was fast and affordable housing last week as 20 units of housing were assembled in Cary Square last week. The development,
led by local property owner Jon Marcus, of Hawthorn Realty, took two and a half days to assemble. Units were constructed in Maine, trucked to the Chelsea site and then lifted into place by a crane (pictured here). Workmen will spend a couple of months tying all the systems together and finishing the exterior of the buildings. The project is a market-rate rental development located at the site of the former Yellow Taxi cab garage at 183 Washington Ave.

“This is another of our efforts to promote residential development where it belongs and to get rid of industrial and institutional
uses in neighborhoods that inhibit a better living environment for our residents,” said City Manager Jay Ash.
