Karen LaPierre

John Hancock Retiree

Karen L. (Dion) LaPierre of Haverhill, formerly of Chelsea, died suddenly on December 18. She was 63 years old.

A retired employee of John Hancock Insurance Co. of Boston and a member of the Massachusetts Alliance for Children, she was the wife of William F. LaPierre and mother of William F. LaPierre, Jr., Stephen B. LaPierre, Paul M. LaPierre, Randall S. LaPierre and Faith LaPierre, all of Florida; sister of Richard Dion of Derry, NH, Denise Chapdelaine and Sherrill Evers, both of Haverhill and the late Robert Dion, Kenneth Dion, Ann Paradis and Jeanne Welch. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Calling hours are today, Thursday, December 22 from 4 to 8 p.m. in Sacred Hearts Church, 165 South Main St., Bradford. Her Funeral Mass will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sacred Hearts Food Pantry, 48 South Chestnut St., Bradford, MA 01835. Barbara Dobbyn

Of Revere, formerly of Chelsea

Barbara (Doran) Dobbyn of Revere, formerly of Chelsea, died on December 17.

She was the beloved wife of the late Henry J. Dobbyn with whom she shared 51 years of marriage; loving mother of John Dobbyn and his wife, Linda of Braintree and the late Kathleen Bucci and her husband, Joseph of Revere; cherished grandmother of Christopher, Michael and Ryan Dobbyn and Justin and Jared Bucci and also leaves three great grandchildren.

Her Funeral will be held from Vazza’s “Beechwood” Funeral Home, 262 Beach Street, Revere, today, Thursday morning at 9:30 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the Immaculate Conception Church, Revere at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Winthrop Cemetery, Winthrop. Linda Giancola

Wakefield Resident

Linda M. (Ringler) Giancola of Wakefield died on December 15.

She was the wife of Paul R. Giancola; mother of Adam P. Giancola and Christa R. Giancola, both of Wakefield; daughter of Marilyn (Caras) Ringler of Chelsea and the late Marvin Ringler; sister of Jacquelyn Belanger of Chelsea.

Florence Gladstone

Retired Salesperson

Florence (Katz) Gladstone of Revere died on December 15.

Born in Winthrop, she was raised in Revere, attended the Revere School System and was a graduate of Revere High School. She was a salesperson in the shoe industry, working at the Logan Airport gift shop and various other shoe stores. She was a long time resident of the Jack Satter House in Revere.

The beloved wife of the late Victor Gladstone, she was the loving mother of Gary Gladstone and his wife, Irene and the late Fred Gladstone; the dear sister of George Katz, Saul Katz and his wife June, Frank Katz and the late Joseph Katz and Sylvia Shaffer. She was the loving grandmother of Andrew, Erika, David and Sara.

Gerald Moltedo

MBTA Retiree

Gerald P. Moltedo, a lifelong Everett resident, died on December 6 surrounded by his loving family and his beloved wife of 49 years, Janet M. (Butler). He was 75 years old.

He attended the Everett Schools and graduated from Christopher Columbus High School. After graduating high school, He joined the service and served in the US Army. After his time in the army, he worked for the MBTA as a motorman.

In addition to his loving wife, he leaves his loving daughter Kelly Ann Moltedo of Everett, and the late Cheryl Ann Sacramone. He was the brother of Robert Moltedo of Chelsea; the grandfather of Justin and Jenna Sacramone of Peabody and brother-in-law of Jim and his wife, Pat Butler of Saugus and Michele Butler of New Hampshire. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral was held from the Murphy O’Hara Funeral Home, Everett followed by a Funeral Mass in the Immaculate Conception Church with Reverend Gerald Osterman officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery.

William Elkin

Owned Cookies Cookin in Framingham

William Elkin of Boca Raton, FL, formerly of Natick and Chelsea, an owner and operator of Cookies Cookin in Framingham, died on December 14, He was 96 years old.

He was the devoted husband of the late Sara (Benjaminson); devoted father of Glenn and Paul Bornstein and Bruce Elkin; adored grandfather of Eric and Rachel Bornstein, Todd Bornstein and Gabriel and Shoshannah Boray. He was the cherished great grandfather of Noach, Miriam, and Eli Bornstein and Zoe and Emi Boray; loving brother of the late Ethel Randolph, Jean Heller, Sylvia Maltz, Elliot, Sol and Milton Bernstein.

Stella ‘Starr’ Stavropolous

Former Chelsea Resident

Stella “Starr” Stavropolous, a former Chelsea resident, was born in Calabria Italy in 1906.  One of 11 children, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Maria (Mandarino) Ciconte.  Her family settled in Brooklyn, New York where she grew up and received her early schooling.

As a young lady she moved to the Boston area and was first married to Frank Samarco.  As a single mother, she settled in Chelsea.  Shortly thereafter she remarried John Stavropoulos, together they raised their blended family of three daughters, residing in Chelsea for many years.

In 1981 she and her husband moved to Dania, Florida living close to her daughter Marie Wisniewski.   After his passing in 1990, she continued in her own home living independently for the next 20 years. She enjoyed walking and playing bingo in Florida’s Indian Casinos.  Two years ago at the age of 103, Stella moved into a senior group home where she was able to remain independent with only little assistance.

This past June, she was predeceased by her daughter Marie.  She is survived by her two remaining daughters, Stella Sullivan of South Carolina and Nancy Giuliano of California.  She is also survived by two sisters; Josie Piccoli and Rose Longo, both of Brooklyn NY.

She was placed to rest with her husband, John at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. Funeral and burial were private.  Should friends desire, contributions in her memory may be made to a charity of their own choice. Mary Pierzchala

Of Peabody, formerly of Chelsea

Mary (Chojnacki) Pierzchala of Peabody, formerly of Chelsea, died on December 13. She was 78 years old,

The devoted wife of the late Thomas Pierzchala and daughter of the late Andrew and Anna Chojnacki, she  had a strong faith and was a long time parishioner of St. Ann’s Church in Peabody. She is survived by her loving children, Thomas and his wife, Mary Pierzchala, Michael and Madeleine Pierzchala, Mark Pierzchala, and Elaine Guzofski and her significant other, Ed Lendall, all of Peabody; her brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Anne Chojnacki of Easton, and also is survived by her four devoted grandchildren, Diane and Erin Pierzchala and Kristen and Richard Guzofski and by several nieces and a nephew.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, Peabody. Burial was in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
