State Police Detectives assigned to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office and Chelsea Police are investigating an early morning shooting Tuesday that left a 38-year- old Chelsea man dead.
Tuesday Chelsea Police got a call for a gunshot victim in front of 104 Central Ave. Officers arrived with emergency medical personnel and administered first aid to the victim who was shot once in the head. The victim whose name is not being released was pronounced dead at Whidden Hospital in Everett a short time later.
Investigators are interviewing witnesses to determine the circumstances that led to the shooting and to help identify the perpetrator.
This is the second shooting in a week. Last Sunday, Chelsea Detectives were investigating another early morning shooting in Bellingham Square that left a 21-year-old Chelsea man suffering from a single gunshot wound to the abdomen.
Chelsea Officers responded to 131 Hawthorne St. at 2:05 a.m. after someone reported a gunshot victim on the street. Upon arriving police saw the victim being treated by Cataldo Ambulance EMTs. The victim told police that he and his friend were walking on in Bellingham Square when he heard a gunshot and immediately realized he was struck in the abdomen.
The victim was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital and was listed in stable condition. Chelsea Detectives are continuing the investigation.
