Officials for Demoulas are close to finalizing plans to lease a 5400 square foot space in the former supermarket building to the owners of the Dockside restaurant chain.
Plans have been underway for nearly six months. According to the owners of the Dockside chain, all that was left were some minor last minute changes in financing and financial particulars.
The Dockside is set to open a full service bar and restaurant in the space which is now being built out.
Dockside officials estimated they will spend $1.1 million to fully create the restaurant and bar space,
When everything is finished, 140 people will be able to sit down and eat at booths and tables while an additional55 people will be seated at the bar.
Dockside owners said they will likely employ 55 people in the new facility in the Demoulas’ Mall.
Thirty-eight of those employees will be fulltime.
The Dockside will offer an open space concept with great décor and multiple flat screen televisions throughout the sprawling restaurant space.
There will also be a patio which will seat 60 people.
Jack Urbaczewski, the owner of Dockside, grew up in Chelsea.
“I’m excited to get back here,” he said during a tour of the property Wednesday morning.
“Unbelievably enough, I grew up about 50 feet from the spot where the front door of this restaurant will be placed,” he said shaking his head in wonder
