Successful Bay Cove Basketball event
To the Editor,
On Friday, May 29, Bay Cove Human Services hosted its “Ballin’ for Recovery” Memorial Day Cookout and Basketball Event at 207 Shurtleff Street in Chelsea.
The event began with a cookout, where clients and staff gathered to enjoy catered food and grilled items. Participants also received Bay Cove gear, including swag t-shirts, basketball shorts, and water bottles. This portion of the event provided an opportunity for clients to socialize, connect with peers and staff, and strengthen their sense of community in a welcoming and supportive environment.
Following the cookout, clients proceeded to the nearby park adjacent to the center, where a 4-on-4 basketball tournament was held. Teams were formed, and participants engaged in friendly competition that promoted teamwork, sportsmanship, physical activity, and positive social interaction. At the conclusion of the tournament, all participants were recognized with a basketball participation medal.
Overall, the event was a success and fostered a sense of belonging, community engagement, and healthy interaction among clients and staff.
Thank you,
