On Thursday, May 28, The Home for Little Wanderers hosted an open house to celebrate its new location in downtown Chelsea. The new office space houses The Home’s Community Service Agency and Family Resource Center. The open house featured remarks from The Home’s President and CEO, Lesli Suggs, LICSW, and Department of Children and Families Commissioner Staverne Miller, who spoke about the importance of early intervention and family support in helping keep children safe and strengthening families. Attendees also heard a testimonial from a local family who previously received services through The Community Service Agency. The event was attended by community partners, state leaders, board members, and families.
The Home’s programs in Chelsea focus on partnering with children and families to provide support, connection, and hope. The Home’s Community Service Agency offers individualized, family-driven care for children and families facing emotional, behavioral, mental health, or safety challenges and the Family Resource Center helps strengthen families by connecting them to local resources, support, education, and programs that build stability and resilience.
For over 225 years, The Home for Little Wanderers has helped build stable lives and hopeful tomorrows for children and their families. Our 35+ community-based and residential programs serve thousands of youth, from birth to age 26, who are in at-risk circumstances. Many of these children have experienced abuse, neglect, trauma or a disrupted family life. As the oldest child welfare agency in America, we provide them with safe surroundings, permanent loving relationships and a secure path toward a better, brighter future.
