Norah Jean Salvato

February 14, 1943 – January 2, 2026

 At the age of 82, Norah Jean (Barr) Salvato passed away on Friday, January 2, 2026, while receiving supportive care at Hunt Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Danvers. Born in Liverpool, England on February 14, 1943, she was the cherished daughter of the late William B. and Norah (Hamilton) Barr.

Norah’s formative years were spent in England, alongside her brother Peter, where she pursued her education and began her career as a registered nurse. In her pursuit of new opportunities, Norah immigrated to the United States, where she found purpose and fulfillment as a nurse’s aide at Jewish Memorial Hospital in Roxbury and later at Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home. After years of dedicated service, Norah embraced retirement, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and care.

During her time at the Jewish Memorial Hospital., she met the love of her life, Joseph G. Salvato. Their union lasted 46 years until Joseph’s passing in 2019, during which they built a loving home in Chelsea, raising their son, Lawrence. He and his wife Jennifer, now reside in Beverly.

A woman of many talents, Norah found joy in knitting and crocheting, creating beautiful blankets and cherished items for family and friends. Her appreciation for music, shopping, and crystal collectibles added vibrance to her quiet home life.

Norah is survived by her son Lawrence and daughter-in-law Jennifer, who will forever remember her warmth, kindness, and unwavering support.

A memorial gathering and celebration of Norah’s life was held at the Welsh Funeral Home, 718 Broadway, Chelsea, on Saturday, January 10.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Norah’s name may be made to a charity of choice, reflecting her spirit of generosity and care for others.

Patrick J. Pelosi

He loved sports and the thrill of the game

Patrick J. Pelosi entered eternal rest on Friday afternoon, January 9, 2026, at the Cambridge Health Alliance Hospital in Everett.  He was 50 years old. 

Born in Malden, he was the son of the late Frank Pelosi and Barbara E. (Chapman) Ostler. Patrick grew up in Everett, attending school at Our Lady of Grace and Pope John XXIII High School.

Patrick loved sports and the thrill of the game.  He never missed an opportunity to go to the track or place a wager at The Sportsbook. Though his path was not an easy one, he was fiercely himself.  Patrick will be forever missed and cherished by all who loved him.

Patrick was the beloved father of Peyton Pelosi of Chelsea.  He was the dear nephew of Marie Abrams, Beth Baker, Ellen Chapman and the late Danny Chapman and loving cousin to Meredith Rennie, Christopher Baker, Melissa Abrams, Melanie Abrams and Stephanie McHugh. 

Family and friends gathered for Patrick’s Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Grace Parish in Chelsea on Tuesday, January 13.  Interment was private.
