Chelsea Police Captain Thomas H. McLain Jr. Graduates from the FBI National Academy

Special to the Record

The Chelsea Police Department is pleased to announce that Captain Thomas H. McLain Jr. has successfully completed the 296th Session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia, graduating on Dec. 11. This distinguished program admits fewer than one percent of top law enforcement executive officers nationwide.

Each session of the FBI National Academy brings together more than 250 law enforcement executives from local, state, federal, military, and international agencies. Participants are nominated by their agency leadership and selected through a highly competitive process based on exemplary leadership, professional integrity, and a demonstrated commitment to advancing modern policing standards.

Widely regarded as one of the premier leadership development programs in law enforcement, the Academy delivers a rigorous 10-week curriculum covering executive leadership, intelligence theory, strategic communication, behavioral science, national security, and contemporary policing strategies. The program also includes intensive physical fitness training and collaborative exercises designed to strengthen professional networks and promote interagency cooperation.

Capt. McLain joins Chelsea Police Chief Keith Houghton, a graduate of the 200th Session of the FBI National Academy, in continuing the department’s commitment to leadership excellence and professional development.

“Graduating from the FBI National Academy is a significant professional accomplishment that reflects Captain McLain’s leadership, dedication, and commitment to serving our community at the highest level,” said Houghton. “This training strengthens our department and enhances our ability to provide progressive, professional, and community-focused policing.”

The Chelsea Police Department congratulates Captain McLain on this achievement and remains committed to investing in leadership training that directly benefits the residents of Chelsea.
