Thank you to our DSPs for providing care, dignity to so many

Since 2008, the second week of September has been designated Direct Support Professionals (DSP) Recognition Week to honor the hundreds of thousands of human services workers across the country helping people live their best lives. I want to take this opportunity to thank the DSPs of North Suffolk Community Services (NSCS) for their vital contributions to our organization and our mission.
NSCS employs more than 1,000 people throughout 80 programs in Chelsea, Revere, Winthrop, East Boston and other local communities. More than half of these talented and compassionate individuals are DSPs, providing direct care to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, substance use and/or mental health challenges. Each day, they give the best of themselves to support our clients in their pursuit of independence, recovery, stability and community inclusion. The work is complex and demanding, but our DSPs treat all with dignity and understanding.
At NSCS, we strongly believe that our employees set us apart. This week, we publicly recognize the contributions and value of our DSPs to let both our community and our DSPs know that their NSCS colleagues, clients and families appreciate them every day.

Community Services A tremendous success

Thank you all for ensuring our community stays well-informed and up to date on events like this race!
The 2nd Annual Chelsea Road Race was a tremendous success and it could not have happened without the dedication and support of our entire community.
From the 500 runners who gave it their all, to those cheering on the sidelines, to our Police and Fire Departments who kept everyone safe, to our City Manager and our special guests who joined in the celebration— Every contribution made the day one to remember.
A heartfelt thank-you goes to Gonnella Law for the beautiful break tapes and signage, to the Chelsea Clock Company for their donation of two stunning Patriot clocks awarded to the first-place male and female winners, to the medal rack art design from Max Corona, to the volunteer breakfast from Dunkin Donuts, to all our entertainers and select vendors and most especially to ALL the Volunteers and members of the Chelsea Running Club. A very special thank-you to the staff from the Department of Public Works and Chelsea Public Schools Building & Grounds whose support and hard work were essential to making the event possible. And we extend our deepest gratitude to our outstanding Co-Directors, Eduardo Rodriguez and Nikki Santos, for their leadership. The Chelsea Recreation & Cultural Affairs Department is sincerely thankful for their partnership and commitment.
Finally, we gratefully acknowledge the generous support of the Chelsea Community Fund and Chelsea Cultural Council whose funding provided essential support for this year’s road race.
This event truly showed the strength, spirit, and pride of Chelsea. Thank you for being part of it—we look forward to making next year’s race even bigger and better!
