Virginia “Ginny” Diranian

We would like to take a moment to make note of the passing this past week of Virginia “Ginny” Diranian, a member of the prominent Diranian family who operated the famed Avenue Restaurant across from City Hall on Washington Ave., which was a popular gathering spot for city officials and employees, for many years.

Ginny, who was a member of the Chelsea High Class of 1972, was a warm and vivacious woman who was beloved by all who knew her. She was a great daughter to her mother, Evelyn, and became her caretaker during her mother’s illness. Ginny was proud of her Greek and Armenian heritage.

We know we join with all of our fellow long-time residents in offering our condolences to her siblings, Andrew Jr., Charles, and Karen, as well as her many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

May she rest in peace.
