Leonard Florence Receives Deficiency-free Survey

Special to the Record

Members and guests of the Leonard Florence Center for Living gather to celebrate the deficiency-free survey they recently received..

The Leonard Florence Center for Living, operated by Chelsea Jewish Lifecare and an affiliate of Legacy Lifecare, announced that it recently achieved a deficiency-free survey. This designation, conducted by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, means that the skilled nursing residence adheres to the highest standards of care, safety, and quality, with no violations or deficiencies.

“We are so pleased to have earned a deficiency-free status,” said Adam Ernst, Executive Director of the Leonard Florence Center. “This achievement would not have been possible without the hard work, dedication and loyalty of every single staff member. The survey highlights our commitment of providing exceptional, high-quality care to our residents.”

To celebrate this milestone accomplishment, the Center held a day of festivities for staff and residents. A lively mariachi band was on hand as well as food stations with a Mexican themed menu available for all staff shifts. “It was truly a day filled with joy and happiness,” commented Jill  Hemeon, Area Director of Community Relations for Chelsea Jewish Lifecare and Legacy Lifecare. “We wanted to host a special celebration for our staff who have worked so tirelessly, day in and day out.”

As the country’s first urban model Green House® skilled nursing facility, the Leonard Florence Center provides a level of independence not typically found in other skilled nursing facilities. The Stein Family Center for Well-Being, the only Green House® ventilator program in the country, opened within the Center in 2020. Currently, the Leonard Florence Center takes care of more individuals living with ALS than any place else in the world.

Ernst noted that the survey is a valuable tool for prospective residents and families. “Receiving a deficiency-free survey means individuals can expect the highest level of care,” explained Adam Ernst. “This is an important consideration when choosing short-term rehab and long-term care.” For more information about the Leonard Florence Center, please visit https://chelseajewish.org/communities/leonard-florence-center-for-living.
