In a letter to Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks, Chelsea City Manager Fidel Maltez and City Councilor-at-Large Leo Robinson extended an invitation to Hasbro executives to visit Chelsea as the corporation considers relocating their global headquarters to Massachusetts.
The letter outlined Chelsea’s strategic advantages, including its affordability, strong public transportation network, and its proximity to Boston, major employers, and key destinations such as the Encore Casino. The city’s robust economy is further supported by major local employers, including Kayem Foods, the Massachusetts International Trade Center (MITC), and the Boston office of the FBI.
“We believe Chelsea offers a unique combination of location, resources, and community for any business looking to grow,” said City Councilor-at-Large Leo Robinson. “Our city is poised to support Hasbro’s long-term success and would be proud to host their headquarters.”
Hasbro announced in October 2024 that it is considering relocating its global headquarters to the Boston area. According to NBC Boston, the company’s potential move could provide a boost to Massachusetts’ economy. Hasbro generated $5 billion in net revenues last year and employs 5,500 people globally, with a significant portion of its workforce based in Rhode Island. “Chelsea is an ideal location for businesses that want to tap into the Greater Boston economy while maintaining access to a diverse and growing community,” said City Manager Fidel Maltez. “We look forward to the opportunity to show Hasbro the advantages of establishing their headquarters here.” The invitation marks an ongoing effort by the City of Chelsea to attract top-tier businesses and create new opportunities for residents and the regional economy.
