Golden “Rico” Tyre, Jr.
November 19, 1950 – August 8, 2024
Relatives and friends are most kindly invited to attend visiting hours for Golden “Rico” Tyre, Jr. today, Thursday, August 15, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Welsh Funeral Home, 718 Broadway, Chelsea, His funeral will be conducted from the funeral home tomorrow, Friday, August 16th at 10 a.m. Services will conclude with interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
At 73 years of age, Rico passed away on Thursday, August 8th in the peaceful surroundings of his home, with his family at his bedside. Rico lived courageously with cancer over the past several years.
He was one of four children born and raised by Golden, Sr., and Virginia (Russell) Tyre. Born in Brookline, he grew up in Chelsea where he attended local schools and graduated from Chelsea High School in 1968. He continued his education attending University of Massachusetts, Amherst and Babson College.
Rico joined the Everett Fire Department and worked there for five years before his appointment to the Chelsea Police Department in 1983. His 32-year career with the CPD was filled with many accomplishments, he was the first minority member to make ranking Sergeant, and the first African American promoted to Lieutenant. He was a detective and supervisor assigned to the Community Service Unit, and he served as a board member and mentor with the REACH program.
A resident of Wakefield for many years where he was a POP Warner football coach, Rico was fiercely devoted to home and family. He loved spending time with his dog, Teddy, floating in his pool, and spending Sundays at Mike’s Bunker.
In addition to his parents, Rico was also predeceased by a sister, Elaine Torres.
He is lovingly survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Ellen P. (Hubner) Tyre. He was the devoted father of Golden Edward Tyre and his wife, Catherine of Merrimac, Matthew Rico Tyre and his wife, Mary of Melrose and stepdaughter, Stephanie Conway of Malden; dear brother of Gwendolyn Tyre of West Peabody and Lawman “Skip” Johnson and his wife, Connie of Wilmington; cherished grandfather of Madeline, Molly, Sean, Sadie, Mason and Lulu. Rico is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Terry E. Cox
November 28, 1960 – August 2, 2024
Relatives and friends attended visiting hours for Terry E. Cox, on Saturday, August 10th in the Welsh Funeral Home, 718 Broadway, Chelsea.
At 63 years of age, Terry passed away after a short illness, on Friday August 2, while at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Brighton. Born in Boston, she was a beloved daughter of Mary (Martin) Jarvis and the late Talmadge Cox. Terry was raised in Chelsea where she attended local schools and graduated from Chelsea High School, Class of ’78. She continued her education at Pine Manor College, graduating with a degree in Liberal Arts. She also attended Nursing School and worked for several years as a Nurse’s Aide at local hospitals and in the private home health care field. She was also a devoted caregiver to her late uncle, Woodrow.
A former Chelsea resident, Terry has been living in Randolph for the last several years.
Terry was predeceased by her father, Talmadge, a brother, Victor Cox and a beloved niece, Erica Cox. She is survived by her two sons, Jordan Kelsey and Derek Anderson and lovingly survived by her mother, Mary Jarvis and siblings, Shirley Leslie, Arnold Cox, Jane Cox, Carolyn Cox, Carla Cox and Mary Anne Cox. She is also survived many cherished nieces, nephews and her feline companion, Ms. Kitty.

Francis H. “Frank” Resca
Retired Letter Carrier
A Funeral Service will take place today, Thursday, August 15, at 1 p.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery’s Columbarium for Francis H. “Frank” Resca who died on Sunday, August 4th at the Courtyard Nursing facility in Medford following a brief illness. He was 82 years old. Frank was a lifelong Chelsea resident, proudly raised and educated in Cheslea. He was a graduate of Chelsea High School, Class of 1960. He began a career with the United States Postal Service as a “Letter Carrier” which spanned over four decades. He happily remained in Chelsea delivering mail his entire career. Frank was married to his wife in January of 1983 and they remained in Chelsea until several years ago before moving to Malden. Frank enjoyed watching all sports but was an enthusiastic football fan on all levels. He would very often take in the high school games at Chelsea Stadium, never missed a Patriots game and also watched college football too. He lived a humble life and enjoyed his life very much. Frank had many friends that he made throughout his life and especially cherished his family, he will be greatly missed. He was the beloved husband of 41 years to Janice M. “Jan” Moore of Malden, formerly of Chelsea, the devoted son of the late Frank L. Resca and Jessie (Zaremski) Resca, the cherished brother of Michael Resca and his wife, Nancy, all of Chelsea, Elaine Faithful and her husband, Mark of Saugus and David Resca of St. Croix. He is also lovingly survived by several nieces, nephews, grandniece, and grandnephews.
