Milagros Serrano
November 18 1944 – May 9, 2023
At 78 years of age, Milagros Serrano passed away on Tuesday, May 9th.
Born and raised in Luquillo, Puerto Rico, she was a loving daughter of Jose Serrano and Maria Batista. As a teenager, she settled in New York with her family. She came to Chelsea as a young lady and was a resident of this city for 40 plus years.
Her life’s devotion was to home and family, raising three daughters and providing a warm and immaculate house where she enjoyed cooking, tending to her many house plants and her pet birds.
Milagros was predeceased by her parents and a daughter, Brunett Ramos. She was the beloved mother of Nancy Maldonado of Chelsea and Munet Ramos of Winthrop; cherished grandmother of Melissa Maldonado Cornejo and Caridad N. Vasquez; adored great-grandmother of Richard Graciana, Jr., Elijah Cornejo, Omar Cornejo, Adrian Vasquez, Aden Martinez and Diogenes Cornejo.
Relatives and friends attended visiting hours at the Welsh Funeral Home, 718 Broadway, Chelsea on Monday, May 15 and Funeral Services were conducted from the Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 16th. Services concluded with interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

Anthony Ramos Smith
Well Known Musician and Member of Band, “Five Daze and a Knight”
Anthony Ramos Smith, a longtime resident of Chelsea, passed away unexpectedly on May 3 at 86 years of age.
Born in New Bedford, he was the son of the late Elaine Hodge. Anthony was a high school graduate. He enlisted in the US Navy on December 9, 1955, at the end of the Korean War and was honorably discharged on September 12, 1957. Anthony was a well-known musician in the band Five Daze and a Knight. Music was a passion of Anthony’s as he could sing and play various instruments, such as the drums, the keyboard and the guitar.
The beloved father of Leann Smith of Rhode Island, Toni King of Dorchester, Kenneth Daniels and Jeffery Smith, both of Roxbury and Anthony Sandler of Chelsea, he was the dear brother of Armand Smith of Georgia, Ethel Smith of Connecticut and the late Howard Smith, George Matney, Eddie Smith, Anna Smith, Dot and Doris Smith; cherished grandfather of Ashiya Nicole Smith and Jazmyn Chemere Smith, both of Roxbury and many other grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Justina Lopez
September 26, 1938 – May 10, 2023
Justina Lopez passed away on Wednesday, May 10 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She was 84 years old.
Born and raised in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, she was the beloved daughter of the late Santos Rodriguez and Maxamina Lopez. She was married to Adolfo Lopez, raised two sons and three daughters. She was a resident of Chelsea for the past 45 years and was the matriarch of her multi-generational family. In addition to her own children, she welcomed and helped to raise eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents and was widowed in 1990 with the passing of her beloved husband, Adolfo Lopez. She is survived by her loving children: Luis Lopez, Maria S. Flores, Adolfo Lopez, Jr., Norma Perez and Maria A. Lopez. She is also survived by eight adoring grandchildren and 17 cherished great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends attended visiting hours and her funeral on Wednesday, May 17 at the Welsh Funeral Home, 718 Broadway, Chelsea followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Rose Church, 600 Broadway Chelsea. Services concluded with Justina being placed to rest with her husband at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
