CHS Tracksters Do Well At Invitationals

Although the scheduled meet for the Chelsea High girls and boys outdoor track and field teams with Malden was postponed from last week to today (Thursday) for a tri-meet with Revere, a contingent of coach Cesar Hernandez’s crew competed in invitational meets over the weekend.

At the MSTCA’s Lou Tozzi Freshman/Sophomore Meet, Lady Red Devil Gizelle Rodriguez medaled in the javelin. Gizelle’s throw of 85’-0” earned her a sixth place medal.

At the Greater New Bedford Sunset Invitational, Rodriguez won a fifth place medal in the 400 dash with a clocking of 64.17 seconds.

For the CHS boys, Emmanuel Simon won a fourth-place medal in the triple jump with a final landing of 39-’0.25”.

Ali Warsame also came home with a fourth-place medal in the 400 dash with a clocking of 54.28.

Jeffrey Ponce placed seventh in the shot-put with a throw of 41’-3.25” and Gary Giron placed ninth in the 100 high hurdles with a time of 18.89.

After the tri-meet today (Thursday) with Greater Boston League (GBL) foes Revere and Malden at Chelsea Stadium, the next meet for the Red Devils is scheduled for next Thursday (May 19) with Medford.

That will conclude Chelsea’s 2022 dual meet season. The All-GBL Meet is scheduled for Thursday, May 26.
