Cultural Council announces new Heritage Celebration grants

The Chelsea Cultural Council (CCC) is excited to announce a new grant program supporting the celebration of Chelsea’s heritage and diversity. The Chelsea Heritage Celebrations Grant funds a broad range of cultural events, street fairs, art shows, festivals, and related activities such as: murals, sculptures, and film series that promote the community’s heritage, quality of life, recreation.

“The arts and culture are a powerful source of healing in times like these, said Marlene Jennings, CCC Chair. “They can connect us, they can infuse our lives with a deeper sense of place and purpose. The arts and culture have the power to change where we live and who we are for the better. We are grateful to Encore Boston Harbor for providing the funds to support this special grant program.”

The goal is to fund both single and multi-day events and projects that are open to the public to promote the celebration of Chelsea and its surrounding heritage and diversity. The grant range is 3,000-$15,000. A larger request may be considered based on merit. Current round of funding is for projects happening until December 31, but we’ll be flexible considering this year’s special circumstances. Beginning October, 2020 the application process will open again, for another round of funding for projects that will take place during the 2021 calendar year.
