CHS Football Team Hosts Eastie Friday

The Chelsea High football team will host the East Boston Jets this Friday evening at 7:00 under the lights at Chelsea Stadium.

The Red Devils did not play this past week, earning a win by forefeit over a Cathedral squad that did not have enough players to field a team.

“East Boston is a big and physical team,” said CHS head coach Rasi Chau of the Jets. “My staff and I have been watching all their films and will prepare our guys to be ready for a big fight.   We need everyone to be at practice and give us all they’ve got.”

The Chelsea High boys soccer team was eliminated from the state tournament with a 5-0 loss at Framingham in a quarterfinal round contest of the MIAA Division 1 North Sectional of the state soccer tournament.

The Red Devils entered the tourney as the 10th seed in the D-1 North with an 11-5-2 record. Framingham was the seventh seed with an 11-2-4 mark.

Chelsea maintained the edge in terms of time of possession in the opening half, but could not put anything together to dent the Framingham net.

For the Red Devils, who are accustomed to playing on turf, the combination of the wet conditions and grass surface gave Framingham a distinct home-field advantage.

Framingham on the other hand, made the most of its scoring opportunities, reaching the back of the CHS net 11 minutes into the contest and adding two more goals before the end of the half to take a 3-0 led at the intermission.

Chelsea continued to play hard and hustled throughout the second 40 minutes, but proved unable to cut into the Framingham lead.

CHS head coach Mick Milutinovic praised the play of senior goalkeeper Oliver Romero “who braved  the weather conditions and did a great job in net for us. In addition, seniors Delmer Romero , Eric Barahona, and Alex Uceda gave it their all.”
