Katherine Kermelewicz LeClair

Of Bradford, formerly of Chelsea

Katherine M. Kermelewicz LeClair of Bradford, formerly of Chelsea, passed away at home surrounded by her children, on Dec. 21.  She was 76 years old.

The wife of the late Joseph Kermelewicz with whom she shared 35 years of marriage and the late Raymond LeClair. to whom she was married for a brief time, she was born and raised in Chelsea, the daughter of the late Angelo and Katherine (Marsh) Dichaira. 

Katherine lived in Chelsea for most of her life. She was a homemaker, devoted to her beloved husband and children and a loyal fan of her hometown teams, the Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins.  Kay enjoyed making ceramics and, in quiet times, knitting and watching old movies.

She was the mother of Steven Kermelewicz and his wife, Denise of Saugus, Robert Kermelewicz and his wife, Julie of Amesbury, Robin Schab and her husband, Tom of N. Fort Meyers, FL, Jack Kermelewicz and his wife, Francine of Derry, NH and Donna O’Callaghan and her husband, Joe of Malden.  She also leaves her sisters, Dotty Dichiara and her wife, Anita Wright of Groveland and Peggy Mazzolla and her husband, Sam of Ft. Meyers, FL; a brother, Warren Dichiara of California and her pride and joy, 14 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Elaine Marie Richard

July 27, 1932 — December 25, 2018

Elaine Marie (Doherty) Richard was born into eternal life on Christmas Day at the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington where she was receiving supportive care for a sudden illness. She was 86 years old.

 Born and raised in Chelsea, she was a beloved daughter of the late Edward and Katherine (McLaughlin) Doherty. She graduated from St. Rose High School. As a young lady she worked in the Chelsea school department offices. She married Kenneth F. Richard, began to raise a family of four sons and returned to work outside of her home as an office administrator with the E.A. McCarthy Insurance Agency in Chelsea. She was widowed at a young age in 1978 with the sudden passing of her beloved husband Kenneth.

She was a resident of Chelsea for most of her life, moving to Swampscott in the mid ‘90’s and has been living for the past few years in Brooksby Village in Peabody where she was a member of the Brooksby Village Rosary Group.

In addition to her parents and her dear husband, Elaine was also predeceased by her sister, Marjorie Murano. She was the devoted mother of Ken Richard and his wife, Susan of Medfield, Jim Richard and his wife, Jane of North Andover, Jack Richard and his wife, Franca of Winchester and Edward Richard and his wife, Kathy of Melrose. She was the cherished grandmother of Ken Richard and his wife, Kelly, Douglas Richard, Caroline Richard, Kate Riddell and her husband, Mark, Jim Richard and his wife, Dannielle, Tom Richard and his wife, Jackie, Meghan McBride and her husband, Collin, Paul Richard and his wife, Samantha, Cristina McElhinney and her husband, Sam, Kevin Richard, Eddie Richard and Dan Richard; the adored great-grandmother of James and Henry Richard, Andrew Riddell, Grace McBride and Kenny Richard and the dear sister of Edward J. Doherty of Marshfield. 

Her Funeral will be held from the Welsh Funeral Home, 718 Broadway, Chelsea today, Thursday, Jan. 3 at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Grace Church, 59 Nichols St., Chelsea at 10 a.m. Services will conclude with Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
