JURY DEADLOCKS AGAIN

A Suffolk Superior Court jury late Monday declared itself deadlocked in the trial of Felix Melendez, 38, charged with first-degree murder in the July 2013 homicide of his landlady, 88-year-old Hilda Devincenzo, in her Chelsea apartment.

An earlier jury convicted him of armed robbery but also deadlocked on the murder charge.  The case will return to court at a later date to schedule another retrial.

Chelsea Police arrested a Division Street man on Tuesday, March 8, for allegedly attacking a woman in a dispute over a blanket.

Around 9:41 p.m. on at 91 Burma Rd. on March 7, the suspect reported that the man assaulted her when the ownership of a blanket was in dispute. The victim suffered some notable injuries in the attack and was transported to Whidden Hospital for treatment.

The suspect was later identified and apprehended the next day at his home.

Christmas Pierre, 27, of 73 Division St., was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and three counts of assault and battery on a police officer.

SPEAKING OF A SPEAKER

One Revere woman was arrested on Friday when she was accused of seriously damaging the intercom system in a Tudor Street apartment.

Police were called to the area of 48 Tudor St. for two women fighting on the sidewalk.

The woman who rents the apartment indicated to police that the Revere woman had destroyed her intercom.

Police noted the damage and arrested the woman.

Meghan Mastrangelo, 34, of Revere, was charged with malicious destruction of property over $250, disorderly conduct and two warrants.

RIFLE SEIZED DURING DRUG BUST

After a major drug bust on Clark Avenue last Friday, March 11, police also confiscated a loaded rifle.

Police were investigating drug dealing going on at 76 Clark Ave. when they moved in with a search warrant in the afternoon. During a search of the premises, they discovered a rifle and ammunition.

Michael Stewart, 32, of 76 Clark Ave., was charged with possession of a Class A drug, possession of a rifle without a permit (subsequent offense), improperly storing a rifle, possession of ammunition without a permit (subsequent offense), armed career criminal, fugitive from justice and one warrant.

Christyna Bidder, 31, of Revere, was charged with conspiracy.
