Myrtle Loretta (Pye) O’Regan

Long time Chelsea resident

Myrtle Loretta O’Regan of Chelsea passed away October 14 at the Masconomet Healthcare Center in Topsfield. She was 98 years old.

Born in Georgetown, Newfoundland, Canada, the daughter of the late Eben and Annie (Milley) Pye, Myrtle came to the United States when she was a young child. She settled in Chelsea with her family and resided in this city for 80 years.

Myrtle worked in the shoe industry and was a waitress for many local establishments. For the past five years she resided at Masconomet Healthcare Center in Topsfield under the wonderful and loving care of the entire staff. Myrtle’s family cannot express fully the gratitude to each and every nurse, CNA employee. Renee and Tina and so many others there, who were her other FAMILY for those years, God Bless them All. Myrtle truly loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and all of her friends. She will be greatly missed by all.

Myrtle was the wife of the late Gerald J. O’Regan; daughter of the late Eben and Annie (Milley) Pye; devoted and loving mother of Barbara Mastrangelo and her husband, Ralph of Peabody and the late Judy McNeil; dear sister of George Pye of Saugus and the late Cecil Pye, Wilson Pye, Doris Boudreau and Helen May Pye; sister-in-law of Marie O’Regan, Mildred Curren and the late (Verna) Jean Pye and Arthur Boudreau. She is also lovingly survived by seven grandchildren: Jane Marie Sullivan, Joanne Nichols and her husband, Bob, Brad Mastrangelo and his wife, Stephanie, Peter Mastrangelo and his wife, Kristen, Christopher Mastrangelo and his wife, Christine and Richard and Randy McNeil; 13 great-grandchildren: Tyler Nichols and his wife, Amanda, Devan Nichols, Rob and Jeremy Sullivan, Savannah, Carissa, Sophia, Alexandra, Mia, Carmella and Chiara Mastrangelo, Ryan and Kassidy McNeil; her very special niece and “third daughter,” Karen Randall and by many beloved nieces, nephews and loving friends.

Funeral arrangements were by the Carafa Family Funeral Home, Chelsea. Interment was at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody. Donations in Myrtle’s memory may be made to the Masconomet Healthcare Center Residents Fund, 123 High St., Topsfield, MA 01983.

Gordon Mahony

MGH retiree

Gordon M. Mahony of Winthrop, formerly of Revere and Chelsea, passed away on October 12 after a period of declining health. He was 84 years old.

The son of the late George Frederick and Pauline (Stone) Mahony, Gordon was born in Boston and raised in Chelsea. He attended Chelsea public schools and was a member of the Chelsea High School, Class of 1949. After graduation, he served his country in the National Guard. Before retiring, he was employed by Massachusetts General Hospital for several years.

Gordon was a caring, hardworking man and good neighbor. He enjoyed summer vacations with his family in New Hampshire and walking his dog, Jenny at Revere Beach.

In addition to his parents, Gordon was preceded in death by his beloved wife,Violetta Ruth “Colley” Mahony and his cherished daughter Diane Braveman. He is survived by two beloved daughters: Susan Mahony and her spouse, Trace Davis of Albuquerque NM and Debra Krupczak and her husband, Paul of Cohasset; his devoted brother, Russell Mahony and his wife, Nancy of Alpharetta, GA and his loving nephews: Fred Mahony and his wife, Debbie of Alpharetta GA and James Mahony of Miami, FL. He was the proud grandfather of Brian Krupczak and his wife, Tina of Herndon VA, Jared and Alison Krupczak of Boston, Shara Ferris of Gloucester, James Spinney of Farmington, NH, Diane Braveman of Estero, FL and John Dewey of Montclair, NJ and the great grandfather of Matthew and Jason Correia and Olivia Ferris and grand uncle of Leigh Lee and Ava Mahony. He is also survived by his friend and caregiver, Elizabeth Sanchez Zichella.

Funeral arrangements were by the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, Orient Heights, East Boston. Interment was private. Donations in Gordon’s memory can be made to the Arthritis Foundation.
