Chelsea Chase 5K held Saturday, May 9th

This past Saturday, over 250 runners and walkers participated in the 4th Annual Chelsea Chase 5K, in support of the Chelsea Police Relief Association and the Jordan Boys & Girls Club.  And we couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful race day!  Just before the race began, the temperature hit 60 degrees, making us forget the 3 foot snow piles that we experienced just a month or so ago…though a few runners claimed their parking spots were located right next to the last remaining snow in the corner of the Market Basket plaza.  And when the starting bell rang, the sun was out with the light breeze and the runners enjoyed a perfect spring day in Chelsea.

This event has fast become the place to be the Saturday before Mother’s Day.  And there are so many people to thank for making this event the success it has become.  First, the Sponsors:  Olivia’s Organics and State Garden have been the Race Sponsor since its first run in 2011.  You’re the best, Olivia’s Organics…and we love your spinach!  A big thanks to our Race Host, offering the best pasta and pizza in town, The Dockside Restaurant and Bar.  Thanks, Lisa & Jack, for another great party!  The other sponsors of the race help raise over $10,000.  Our large returning sponsors include Massport, Eastern Salt, JB Sash & Door, Eastern Express Car Wash, The Architectural Team, Dennis C. Burke Co., and Signature Breads.  In addition, Anthony’s Memorial, Broadway, Family Dental/Dr. Dental, Chelsea Bank, a Division of East Cambridge Savings, Kiwanis Club of Chelsea, Dunkin Donuts, Designer’s Choice, The Marriot Hotels- both the Residence Inn and the new TownePlace Suites, MCR Technologies, Hair Cuttery, TD Bank, Chelsea Police Superior’s Association, Chelsea Police Patrol Association, Kirshon Paint, , Performance Physical Therapy, Today’s Collision Repair, Neighborhood Health Plan, Cassano Development, Chelsea Rotary, and Susan E. Gallant, CPA have all been generous to this event as well.

And we had so many volunteers come out that day as well:  From the Chelsea Police officers who helped out along the route, to Cataldo Ambulance who made sure we all finished the race safely; from the Old Navy staff to family members of runners who helped direct runners; from the Jordan Club’s Keystoners to the staff, parents, friends, and neighbors of the Jordan Club, the Chelsea Police, and the City of Chelsea…every one of you worked VERY hard at managing many impatient drivers, angry truckers, and even a movie set crew along the race route.  We could  not have had this event without your time and enthusiasm.

If you’d like to find out your time, or see photos of many runners at the finish and start of the race, visit the Racewire.com website.  Or you can reach out to the Jordan Boys & Girls Club or Chelsea Police Relief Association for more information.  Thank you again to all who made this event possible.  We look forward to seeing everyone next May!
